Job summary

Plane is seeking an automation test engineer to own the automated test suite for its web and desktop clients, guiding framework design and what runs on every pull request and before release.

You will build coverage for offline, concurrent editing, and agent actions, ensuring tests stay fast and trustworthy while collaborating with engineers in San Francisco, Hyderabad, and community contributors across public PRs.

Qualifications

• Built an automation framework with clear structure, fixtures, and data management.
• Fluent in Playwright or Cypress, and in TypeScript or JavaScript to debug failures from traces.
• Experience turning flaky test suites trustworthy again and reducing CI flakiness.

Responsibilities

• Own the automated test suite for web and desktop clients from framework design to PR-level tests.
• Build coverage for challenging areas like concurrent editing, offline recovery, and agent actions with ranges.
• Decide what to test within budget; prioritize high-risk failures affecting customers.
• Keep tests fast and reliable; reduce flaky tests and unnecessary test maintenance.
• Test Cloud, self-hosted, and older versions across browsers; collaborate with SF and Hyderabad teams.
