Job summary

Actalent, a global engineering services leader, seeks a Senior Automation Engineer III for Huntington Beach, CA. You will lead automation design, develop robotic cells, and integrate PLCs, vision systems, and motion control across high‑volume manufacturing environments.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive projects from concept through commissioning, and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and controls teams to improve productivity and quality on multiple facilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
8+ years designing and implementing automated manufacturing equipment and systems.
Strong expertise in mechanical design and automation integration.
Proficient with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
Experience with robotics, vision systems, motion control, and automation platforms.

Responsibilities

Design automated manufacturing equipment, robotic cells, conveyors, fixtures, and material handling systems.
Create machine concepts and system architectures that solve complex manufacturing challenges.
Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, layouts, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Integrate robotics, PLC controls, vision systems, and motion control technologies into complete manufacturing solutions.
Lead automation projects through the full lifecycle from concept to production.
Troubleshoot and optimize automated equipment and production systems.
Mentor junior engineers and support vendor selection and system integration.
