Job summary

Helion Energy in Everett, WA is seeking a Senior Controls Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve automated manufacturing equipment for high-voltage capacitor and module production. You will work with Controls Engineering and Factory Development to enhance system architecture and readiness for scale.

This onsite role reports to the Supervisor of Technical Maintenance and may require schedule flexibility as operations expand toward multi-shift coverage.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting industrial automation, controls, or production equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting ability with PLC/HMI-controlled equipment, electrical controls, instrumentation, sensors, drives, networks, and safety systems.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and process diagrams.
• Experience with robotics and SCADA/HMI platforms used in automated manufacturing (Fanuc, Ignition, FactoryTalk, Rockwell/Studio 5000, Siemens/TIA Portal).
• Ability to safely troubleshoot energized industrial systems with proper safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and restore complex automated manufacturing equipment including PLC/HMI-controlled systems, instrumentation, drives, sensors, safety circuits, robotics, and SCADA interfaces.
• Support production uptime through rapid diagnosis of electrical, controls, network, and automation faults following lockout/tagout and NFPA 70E procedures.
• Perform minor PLC/HMI updates to logic, parameters, alarms, recipes, and operator interfaces.
• Assist with controls checkout, commissioning, validation, and handoff for new or modified equipment.
• Document faults, root causes, corrective actions, and troubleshooting guides in CMMS and controls documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvements to reduce downtime and prepare systems for scale.
