Job summary

Helion Energy is seeking a Senior Controls Technician to support reliability, uptime, and continuous improvement of manufacturing controls for high-voltage capacitors and modules in Everett, WA. You will troubleshoot complex automated equipment and partner with Controls Engineering and Factory Development teams to improve system architecture and readiness for scale.

The role is onsite in Everett with potential multi-shift coverage as operations scale toward 24/7.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; controls training or apprenticeship may count toward experience.
5+ years in industrial automation, controls, or production equipment.
Experience reading electrical schematics and process diagrams.
Strong hands-on troubleshooting with PLC/HMI systems, drives, sensors, and safety systems.
Experience with robotics and SCADA/HMI platforms (Fanuc, Ignition, FactoryTalk, Rockwell/Studio 5000, Siemens/TIA Portal).
Ability to work varied shifts, including overtime and on-call as operations scale.

Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, and restore complex automated manufacturing equipment including PLC/HMI, instrumentation, drives, sensors, safety circuits, robotics, and SCADA interfaces.
Diagnose electrical, controls, network, and automation faults to support uptime while following safety procedures.
Make controlled minor updates to PLC/HMI logic, parameters, alarms, recipes, and operator interfaces; escalate larger changes per engineering change control.
Assist with controls checkout, commissioning, validation, and handoff for new or modified equipment with engineering and vendors.
Document faults, root causes, corrective actions, procedures, and troubleshooting guides in the CMMS and controls documentation.
Identify recurring controls issues and gaps; propose practical improvements to reduce downtime and support scale.
Support schedules including day, swing, night, rotating, overtime, weekend, or on-call coverage as needed.
