Job summary

Helion, a fusion power company in Everett, WA, is seeking a Senior Controls Technician to ensure reliability and uptime of manufacturing controls systems. You will troubleshoot PLC/HMI-controlled equipment, support maintenance, commissioning, and collaborate with Controls Engineering and Factory Development to improve system architecture and readiness for scale toward multi-shift operations.

This onsite role reports to the Supervisor of Technical Maintenance and may require evolving schedules as

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting industrial automation and production equipment.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot PLC/HMI-controlled systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and process diagrams.
• Experience with robotics and SCADA/HMI platforms.
• Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and work 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot complex automated manufacturing equipment (PLC/HMI, drives, sensors, safety systems).
• Support uptime through rapid fault diagnosis across electrical, controls, network, and automation.
• Perform controlled updates to PLC/HMI logic and alarms; coordinate changes through ECN.
• Support controls checkout, commissioning, validation, and handoff with engineering teams.
• Document faults, root causes, corrective actions, and procedures in CMMS.
• Identify recurring issues and contribute to improvements for production scale.
