Job summary

Helion in Everett, WA seeks a Senior Controls Technician to maintain and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment used to build high-voltage capacitors and modules for our fusion reactor systems.

You will collaborate with Controls Engineering and Factory Development to improve system architecture, maintainability, and readiness for scale, with on-site scheduling including potential multi-shift coverage.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience supporting industrial automation, controls, or production equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, apprenticeship, military technical training, or formal controls training may be considered in place of some direct experience.
Strong hands-on troubleshooting ability with PLC/HMI-controlled equipment, electrical controls, instrumentation, sensors, drives, and safety systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics and process diagrams.
Experience with robotics and SCADA/HMI platforms (e.g., Fanuc, Ignition, FactoryTalk, Rockwell/Studio 5000, Siemens/TIA Portal).
Ability to safely troubleshoot energized systems following safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, and restore complex automated manufacturing equipment including PLC/HMI-controlled systems and SCADA interfaces.
Support production uptime by diagnosing electrical, controls, network, and automation faults.
Make controlled updates to PLC/HMI logic and alarms, with engineering change control for larger changes.
Support controls checkout, commissioning, validation, and handoff for new equipment.
Document faults, root causes, corrective actions, and procedures in CMMS and controls docs.
