Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a Controls Engineer to perform technical duties within prescribed time frames. You will participate in projects to improve overall process and technical efficiency.

Collaborate with controls engineers to develop and implement control logic, fail-safe states, and recovery sequences. You will support engineering project teams, install field devices, and coordinate with external integrators to meet deliverables.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree in EE, CS, Mechatronics, or similar.
• 3+ years equipment/controls experience.
• Experience integrating field devices and safety systems into automated equipment platforms.
• Strong PLC programming, PID tuning, and HMI development.
• Ability to collaborate with IT, process, engineering teams to implement control logic.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with controls engineers to develop and implement control logic, fail-safe states, and recovery sequences.
• Support engineering project teams in delivering cost-effective automation and manufacturing systems.
• Implement field devices and control architectures aligned with site standards and process requirements.
• Troubleshoot automation issues and contribute to system integration and technical problem-solving.
• Coordinate with external integrators and machine builders to meet project deliverables.
• Participate in system fabrication, testing, documentation, installation, startup, and training.
• Manage assigned project timelines and provide regular progress updates to project leadership.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

What You'll Do

Qualifications

• Experience integrating field devices (flow, motion, temperature, material handling) and safety systems into automated equipment platforms.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming (ladder logic), PID loop tuning, HMI/GUI development, and control system architectures.
• Understanding of electrical design, robotics, electro-mechanical and motion control systems, and system integration in manufacturing environments.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, process, engineering) to implement control logic, fail-safe states, and recovery sequences.
• Proven project execution skills, including estimating timelines, meeting deliverables, and supporting system checkout and panel verification.
• Solid troubleshooting, problem-solving, and teamwork skills with a results-driven mindset.
• Experience preferred with Allen-Bradley PLC’s.

• 2-year technical degree, with focus of EE, CS, Mechatronics, or similar area.

Work Hours And Schedule

• Normal working hours are M – F, 8 AM – 5 PM
• Support off shift as needed

The range for this position is $59,130.00 - $81,304.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
