Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team in a hybrid work setting. You will work on PLC-based control systems and Safety Instrumented Systems for industrial facilities, prepare procurement specifications, and expand expertise in automation through our Automation Lab and Communities of Practice.

Candidates should have a BS in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, 7+ years in I&C or automation, and the ability to obtain US

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; MS degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls or automation and control systems engineering.
• Experience with designing, programming, documenting, and testing automated machinery or processes at industrial facilities.
• Experience with industrial communication design (Ethernet IP preferred; familiarity with Modbus/Profibus a plus).
• Producing P&IDs, Control System Narratives, I/O Lists, logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, FAT procedures, and software docs including O&M manuals.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams designing PLC-based control systems and SIS for industrial facilities.
• Prepare specs and design media for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control platforms.
• Participate in Automation Lab training and pursue peer learning through Communities of Practice.
• Provide I&C field engineering support during construction and testing.
• Troubleshoot and recommend control system hardware/software solutions.
• Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
