Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Automation and Controls Engineer, Satellites (Starlink) in Redmond to lead multi-disciplinary automation projects for high-volume satellite production.

You will design, implement, and validate factory automation, from machine commissioning to hand-off to operations, ensuring robust, maintainable control software. Responsibilities include PLC programming, electronics design, and safety-compliant implementations while crafting clear HMI and interfaces for operators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering, physics, or computer science discipline.
• 5+ years of total experience in industrial or factory automation design and implementation OR 5+ years of experience designing and building electro-mechanical/robotic/automated systems or products.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage automation projects for high-volume satellite manufacturing.
• Architect, write, and debug PLC code with focus on maintainable, reusable code.
• Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant safety systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, and equipment.
• Create simple, intuitive HMI screens for complex machines.
• Design electrical systems compliant to NEC, NFPA, & UL508A.
• Plan schedules and budgets and motivate the team to meet them.
