Job summary

Actalent, a leader in engineering services, seeks a Sr Electrical Engineer to lead controls design for custom automated equipment. You will create and update electrical schematics, develop and manage BOMs, and program PLC and HMI systems for reliable operations.

You will troubleshoot complex control systems, perform functional testing, and support field installations and commissioning. The role requires collaboration with mechanical, process, and production teams and mentoring junior engineers

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience with automated process equipment.
Proficiency in PLC programming for major platforms (Allen-Bradley, GE, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Omron).
Experience developing and modifying HMI programs for industrial automation systems.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (65/3/60 power, motors, 24VDC I/O, 4-20 mA).
Experience with diagnostic tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes.
Industrial networking tech (EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, RIO, CAN).
AutoCAD or similar CAD for schematics.

Responsibilities

Lead controls design for custom automated equipment and create/update schematics in AutoCAD.
Develop and manage BOMs for hardware and software components.
Design, modify, and support PLC and HMI programming.
Perform electrical and software debugging to resolve control system issues.
Conduct functional testing to verify performance and compliance.
Deliver projects on time and within budget.
Mentor and train junior controls engineers.
Provide field support for installation, commissioning, and service.
Collaborate with mechanical, process, and production teams to integrate controls with system design.
Document changes, test results, and troubleshooting steps.
