Job summary

Actalent is seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer to drive continuous improvement across control systems for multiple centers. You will evaluate and refine PLC code, standardize systems, and develop reusable templates while collaborating with vendors and internal teams.

The role focuses on automation and material handling environments, with travel to sites for project implementation, testing, and troubleshooting. A strong background in Allen-Bradley PLC systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• 4+ years of experience in controls engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, project management, or related occupation.
• Experience with material handling or automation projects from design through implementation.
• Design and implementation in electrical and controls for integrated automation solutions.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal/external teams to deliver cross-functional automation projects.
• Define priorities with project managers and vendors; meet milestones.
• Review and refine technical documentation including system layouts and proposed control solutions.
• Represent designs to customers and internal teams, explaining technical concepts clearly.
• Review PLC code, suggest modifications, and support implementation to improve performance and standardization.
• Analyze data from multiple locations to identify standardization opportunities and root causes of rework.
• Support creation of reusable control system templates for multiple facilities.
• Collaborate with material handling sites to drive automation innovations.
