Job summary

Humana is seeking a Principal Automation Engineer to lead the Enterprise Automation Frameworks & Support. You will define scalable automation strategies, build reusable frameworks, and drive AI-enabled testing across Humana’s software delivery lifecycle.

The role requires 10+ years in quality automation, deep expertise with Selenium/Playwright/Tosca, and strong leadership to mentor teams and align with DevOps practices. Remote US-based position with travel as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
10+ years of software quality engineering, automation engineering, SDET, or software engineering experience.
8+ years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing enterprise automation frameworks.
Deep expertise with automation technologies including: Selenium, Playwright, Tricentis Tosca, Cypress, Appium, API Automation frameworks
Extensive experience with Azure DevOps (ADO), qTest, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, C#, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or similar.
Experience implementing automation solutions for web, API, microservices, cloud-native, and distributed applications.
Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Continuous Delivery practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, consulting, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

Define and execute Humana's enterprise automation architecture strategy and roadmap to drive scalable, standardized, and innovative quality engineering solutions across the organization.
Create standards, reference architectures, patterns, and best practices for quality engineering and automation across all business segments.
Evaluate emerging automation technologies and AI-driven testing solutions to continuously improve engineering effectiveness.
Serve as the enterprise automation subject matter expert for modern quality engineering practices.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable automation frameworks using technologies including Selenium, Playwright, Tricentis Tosca, REST Assured, Cypress, Appium, and related tools.
Build and enhance automation solutions that support testing across cloud-native, microservices, API-first, web, mobile, and distributed application architectures.
Develop reusable automation components, libraries, utilities, templates, and accelerators to improve delivery efficiency and consistency.
Implement and maintain automation integrations within CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and other enterprise delivery platforms.
Drive continuous improvements in automation stability, maintainability, execution speed, and overall test effectiveness.
Integrate automation solutions with enterprise tools including Azure DevOps, qTest, Tosca, Jira, and CI/CD ecosystems.
Enable end-to-end traceability across requirements, user stories, test cases, automation assets, defects, releases, and production outcomes.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to Quality Engineers, SDETs, Automation Engineers, and development teams.
Create and maintain automation standards, best practices, technical documentation, playbooks, and training materials.
