Job summary

Blue Shield of California is seeking a Senior Application Developer to advance automation initiatives within the Business Configuration Automation team. You will design, develop, and optimize software applications that support accurate reporting and configuration activities, with impact on enrollment, claims processing, and overall operational efficiency.

The role requires strong UNIX/Windows, SQL, and scripting skills, experience across platforms, and collaboration with cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent IT experience.
• 5+ years in relevant IT roles.
• Experience with multiple platforms and agile processes.
• Experience with databases and SQL development.

Responsibilities

• Apply software engineering concepts throughout the SDLC.
• Contribute to application design and technical specifications.
• Build user interfaces and applications based on approved designs.
• Test, troubleshoot, and maintain code to ensure quality.
• Provide guidance to less experienced team members.
• Work across 2-3 technology platforms or stacks.
• Manage two to three moderately complex projects.
• Collaborate with customers to design solutions addressing business requirements and user stories.
