Job summary

Blue Shield of California seeks a Senior Application Developer to design, develop, and enhance software tools for automated reporting and configuration tasks. You will contribute to automation initiatives across the Business Configuration Shared Services team, improving enrollment and claims processing efficiency.

The role requires strong UNIX/Windows, SQL, and scripting skills, plus experience with WebSphere, FileNet, and REST services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent IT experience.
• 5+ years in relevant IT/support roles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; project management experience preferred.
• Proficiency with UNIX/Windows OS and Internet technologies.
• Proficiency with VBA, PowerShell, version control, and Agile tools.
• Knowledge of Oracle and/or SQL Server; SQL development required.
• Scripting in PERL, Bourne, C++.
• Knowledge of WebSphere (Admin/Install).
• UI development basics and software development methodologies required.
• Knowledge of FileNet (UNIX/Windows).
• Experience with SVN/Git and JIRA preferred.
• Familiarity with APIs, web services, SOAP, REST.
