Job summary

Blue Shield of California is seeking a Senior Application Developer to design, develop, and enhance software that supports automated reporting and configuration activities. You will help improve enrollment processes, streamline claims, and deliver high-quality business solutions within the Business Configuration Shared Services team.

The role emphasizes leadership, critical thinking, and continuous learning, with a hybrid work model requiring in-office presence two days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a computer-related support role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; project management experience preferred.
• Proficiency with UNIX and/or Windows OS and Internet technologies.
• Proficiency with VBA, PowerShell, version control, and Agile tools.
• Knowledge of Oracle/SQL Server and SQL development.
• Scripting with PERL, C++, and familiarity with WebSphere, FileNet.
• Experience with SVN/Git and JIRA; familiarity with APIs, web services, SOAP, and REST.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance software applications and tools for automated reporting and configuration activities.
• Advance automation initiatives and support operational efficiency in enrollment, claims, and reporting processes.
• Work within the Business Configuration Shared Services team under Senior Manager leadership to deliver high-quality solutions.
