Job summary

Wertz & Associates, Alexandria, VA, seeks a Senior Auditor to join its Audit Services team. The role blends technical GAAP auditing with client interaction, leadership development, and a clear path for advancement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3+ years of public accounting audit experience.
  • Experience performing audit procedures and fieldwork.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and GAAS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • CPA license or pursuing CPA certification (preferred).
  • Master's Degree in Accounting or related field (preferred).
  • Experience supervising staff (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform and supervise audit fieldwork and testing procedures.
  • Administer audit engagements and assist with engagement planning.
  • Complete audit procedures in accordance with professional standards.
  • Prepare and review audit workpapers.
  • Assist in finalizing engagement deliverables.
  • Interact professionally with client personnel.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Communicate audit findings and requests effectively.
  • Help clients navigate accounting and reporting issues.
  • Deliver exceptional client service throughout engagements.
  • Supervise and train entry-level audit staff.
  • Review staff work and provide coaching.
  • Mentor developing professionals.
  • Support engagement teams in meeting deadlines.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Apply GAAP and GAAS principles throughout engagements.
  • Research accounting and auditing issues.
