Job summary

Insite US is seeking a Senior Accountant in the Maryland/Washington DC metro area to join the Audit & Accounting team. This role offers involvement across assurance, financial reporting and taxation, providing a broader range of experience and leadership development.

An established and growing CPA firm in the Washington DC Metro area is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Audit & Accounting team.

Unlike positions that focus exclusively on audit or tax, this role offers the opportunity to work across assurance, financial reporting and taxation, giving you a broader range of experience while developing your client management and leadership skills.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of engagements, work directly with clients and supervise junior accountants, with a clear path toward more senior positions.

What You'll Be Doing

Audit & Assurance

• Plan and execute audit, review and other assurance engagements.
• Prepare and review audit workpapers and supporting documentation.
• Assist with audit risk assessments and engagement planning.
• Prepare and review financial statements, including disclosures.
• Apply US GAAP and generally accepted auditing standards.
• Identify accounting issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Work directly with clients throughout the engagement process.
• Prepare and review individual and business tax returns.
• Assist with complex tax projections and planning.
• Research federal and state tax matters.
• Review tax returns prepared by junior team members.
• Support clients with technical accounting and tax questions.

Client & Team Management

• Manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines.
• Supervise and mentor Staff Accountants.
• Review junior staff work and provide technical guidance.
• Develop relationships with clients and act as a day-to-day contact.
• Work closely with Managers and Partners on more complex engagements.
• Take increasing responsibility for engagement planning and delivery.

What We're Looking For

• 4-5 years of public accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Active CPA licence required.
• Experience across audit and tax engagements.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and auditing standards.
• Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements and tax returns.
• Confidence communicating directly with clients.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements independently.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff would be beneficial.
• Familiarity with professional accounting and tax software.
• Willingness to travel locally for client engagements when required.
• US work authorisation without employer sponsorship.
