Job summary

Office of the Attorney General in Florida is seeking a Senior Assistant Statewide Prosecutor to join the statewide prosecution team in Miami. This role focuses on reviewing evidence, making charging decisions, and coordinating with law enforcement and other agencies to pursue criminal cases.

The successful candidate will have Florida Bar membership and at least five years of criminal trial experience, and will handle pre-trial motions, trial and post-trial proceedings, and appellate support as

Qualifications

• Membership in the Florida Bar and five years of criminal trial law experience.
• Criminal trial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and evaluating evidence for prosecution of criminal cases.
• Submitting data and recommendations to the Chief Assistant for intake decisions.
• Advising and assisting investigations, including review of warrants, statements, and expert opinions.
• Making charging decisions based on factors in consultation with the Bureau Chief Assistant.
• Establishing contact with other divisions and agencies to pursue remedies.
• Preparing and filing charging instruments.
• Coordinating surrender or arrest of defendants.
• Representing the State at bond hearings.
• Determining discoverable materials and attending depositions.
• Representing at pre-trial motions, calendar calls, and trial.
• Representing at post-trial hearings and sentencing.
• Maintaining contact with appellate unit for record on appeal.
• Requesting recovery of costs.
• Conducting post-case review sessions.
• Participating in Statewide Grand Jury process.
• Attending integrated panel meetings.
• Maintaining documentation and data entry in case-tracking system.
• Assisting in legislative proposals.
