Job summary

Cook County Health is seeking an Attending Physician in General Anesthesiology & Pain Management. The role covers John H. Stroger, Jr.

Hospital, Provident Hospital, and affiliated clinics, focusing on patient care, resident training, and quality assurance projects within the Anesthesiology & Pain Management Service. The position involves supervising CRNAs, providing a full range of anesthetic services, and contributing to departmental operations and education.

Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited medical college or university.
• Completed Anesthesiology Residency and Fellowship in Pain Management.
• Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology (ABA).
• Active Illinois Medical License or ability to obtain before start.
• Active DEA license or ability to obtain before start.
• Active ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthetic and pain management care across hospital settings.
• Perform preoperative assessments, intraoperative anesthesia, and post-anesthesia care.
• Supervise residents/fellows and provide medical direction to CRNAs.
• Deliver anesthesia in OR, OB, PACU, ICU, and other service areas.
• Coordinate with surgeons and nursing staff to ensure safe patient care.
• Administer various anesthesia modalities (local, regional, MAC, general).
• Determine patient recovery status and appropriate disposition post-procedure.
