Job summary

PBMares LLP in Fairfax, VA is seeking an experienced Senior – Assurance professional to lead and execute assurance engagements, mentor staff, and ensure timely, accurate client service. The role requires GAAS/GAAP knowledge, strong communication, independence, and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, audit software, and data analytics tools; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent and eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
• 1 year of CPA experience or 2 years of relevant experience without CPA.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAS, GAAP, and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day assurance engagements, including planning, fieldwork, documentation, and completion.
• Apply GAAS, GAAP, and firm methodology when performing and reviewing audit procedures.
• Review workpapers, financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Evaluate risks, research technical accounting issues, and exercise sound judgment.
• Maintain proactive client communication and provide practical process improvements.
• Supervise and mentor staff, provide training and feedback, and review work.
• Coordinate staffing, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
• Work with managers and partners to resolve issues and manage risk.
• Monitor budgets, timelines, WIP, and billing to ensure profitability.
• Utilize firm technology, data analytics, and approved AI tools to enhance quality.
• Identify opportunities for additional services and participate in practice development.
