Job summary

PBMares, LLP, a growing Virginia accounting firm, seeks an experienced Assurance Supervisor in Newport News to lead multiple assurance engagements. You will guide planning, execution, and client relations, applying GAAS/GAAP knowledge and strong communication to deliver high-quality results.

You will coach staff, manage budgets, and leverage audit technology to improve processes and efficiency while maintaining service excellence for diverse clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• CPA credential, or actively pursuing CPA licensure.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAS, GAAP, and SAS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day planning and execution of assurance engagements.
• Establish timelines, deliverables, responsibilities, and quality expectations.
• Design audit approaches based on assessed risks and evaluate internal controls.
• Review workpapers for accuracy and documentation.
• Review financial statements and engagement reports.
• Research and resolve complex accounting matters using professional judgment.
• Manage engagement budgets and timelines.
