Job summary

Smith + Howard, a Southeast-based accounting and advisory firm, seeks an Assurance Senior for its Captive Insurance practice. You will lead audit engagements for captive entities, collaborating with clients and teams to deliver precise financial statements under GAAP and SAP.

You will build trusted relationships with CFOs and risk managers, supervise staff, and contribute to business development while growing technical expertise in a niche insurance space.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of public accounting audit experience.
• Active CPA license or CPA exam in progress.
• Solid technical foundation in GAAP; statutory accounting experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engagements and manage client relationships.
• Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and in the room.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit fieldwork and manage day-to-day engagement logistics for captive insurance clients.
• Prepare and review financial statements in GAAP and SAP.
• Build relationships with clients, including CFOs and risk managers.
• Supervise and develop staff on engagements.
• Collaborate with practice leadership to deliver high-quality work on time and budget.
• Support business development through exceptional client service and industry knowledge.
