Job summary

Craft Recruiting has partnered with a high-growth specialty finance platform to recruit an Associate General Counsel who will serve as a senior legal leader and the primary operational second-in-command to the Chief Legal Officer.

The role supports a large commercial funding portfolio, collaborates with executive leadership across underwriting, sales, and operations, and shapes the legal function in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Typically 6+ years of meaningful legal experience; emphasis on capability and judgement over exact years.
• Experience in MCA, revenue-based financing, specialty finance, fintech, or related financial-services environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate broker/ISO agreements, vendor MSAs, confidentiality, technology, and financing documents.
• Support state regulatory inquiries, licensing matters, and disclosure requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee outside counsel for commercial disputes, collections, and creditor rights in bankruptcy proceedings.
• Partner with CLO and executive team on senior credit facilities, capital markets, securitization readiness, and intercompany transactions.
• Advise on AI policies, data privacy, GLBA/CCPA, and evolving legal risks in financial services operations.
• Mentor junior lawyers and act as a trusted second-in-command to the Chief Legal Officer.
