Job summary

Range is seeking an Associate General Counsel to own a broad range of legal issues, including contracts, transactions, and regulatory matters. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer and provide day-to-day legal partnership across business teams with speed and clarity.

This builder's role places you at the heart of an early-stage legal function, handling contract review end-to-end, partnering with compliance, and supporting corporate and transactional work as Range scales.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (VA, DC, or MD preferred, or eligibility to register as in-house counsel).
• 3+ years of post-JD experience, including time in-house at a technology company, financial services firm, or fintech organization.
• Corporate/transactional or regulatory background, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
• Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements independently and at volume.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, revise, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor, SaaS and technology, and NDAs.
• Move contracts through the full lifecycle, and build the templates and playbooks that let Range move faster as volume grows.
• Partner closely with compliance on regulatory matters affecting our investment advisor and broker-dealer businesses, including marketing review, member-facing disclosures, and policies and procedures.
• Support the Chief Legal Officer on responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations.
• Be a responsive, plain-English legal resource to product, engineering, finance, sales, marketing, and operations.
• Support corporate and transactional work alongside the Chief Legal Officer including financings, strategic partnerships, M&A diligence, board resolutions, equity documentation, and entity records.
• Work with product and engineering to surface legal and regulatory considerations early on new products and platform capabilities.
• Track legal and regulatory developments across fintech and wealth management, and help shape Range's response.
• Build internal training and self-service resources so business teams know when to bring Legal in.
• Support the management of outside counsel on specialized matters.
