Job summary

The Research Foundation of the City University of New York (RFCUNY) invites applications for a Senior Associate to design and deliver training and technical assistance across CUNY colleges. You will build a program-wide strategy for staff development, using varied formats and tools.

You will coordinate multi-campus events, create instructional materials, manage project plans, and co-produce online sessions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience.
  • Experience facilitating or teaching in postsecondary or professional learning environments.
  • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Design and implement in-person and virtual learning experiences and resources for staff development.
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience leading meetings, cross-sector groups, or learning communities.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including training materials, manuals, or guides.
  • Working knowledge of instructional design theory and adult learning principles.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to independently resolve issues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a program-wide strategy for training and technical assistance across colleges.
  • Design and deliver high-quality multi-campus staff training events (in-person and virtual).
  • Facilitate meetings, convenings, and cross-college working sessions with inclusive participation.
  • Provide ongoing learning opportunities, including one-on-one & group coaching.
  • Engage college partners in training and professional development assessments and events.
  • Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and communications for learning initiatives and events.
  • Create instructional materials such as manuals, templates, rubrics, FAQs, and assessments.
  • Manage project work plans, timelines, and deliverables for high quality results.
  • Serve as a co-producer for online events (chat, recordings, engagement tools).
  • Participate in regular meetings within OAA, CUNY EDGE, and partner colleges.

Launched in 2016, CUNY EDGE is the latest initiative that balances advising and personal supports with career development while maintaining students’ compliance with HRA regulations. This model blends elements of successful college completion programs with paid work and internship opportunities, personal development, and academic excellence. Serving over 3,500 students across 20 colleges each year, CUNY EDGE is led by a Central Office team of eight supporting over 60 staff at the colleges who provide direct services to students. This redefined role creates a dedicated position to support the planning, delivery, and maintenance of professional development programming and resources across the Central Office and partner colleges. Reporting to the CUNY EDGE Deputy Director for Program Management, the Senior Associate will design and deliver training and technical assistance to strengthen program quality, implementation fidelity, and cross-college coordination, while also supporting system alignment, college best practices that expand student support services, and improving service delivery. A strong candidate for this position is committed to high-quality learning experiences and can operate independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.Duties/Responsibilities:Develop and implement a program-wide strategy for training and technical assistance, including staff assessments, frameworks, tools, and approaches that can be applied across all collegesDesign and deliver high-quality multi-campus staff training events, including in-person and virtual (asynchronous and synchronous) convenings related to advisement, career development, leadership, data, and technology, among othersFacilitate meetings, convenings, and cross-college working sessions, including working groups and learning communities, ensuring inclusive participation and actionable outcomesAs needed, provide ongoing learning opportunities, including individual & group consultation, on site/virtual support and coachingEngage college partners in the development and implementation of training and professional development assessments, events, and resourcesExecute the logistical and technical components of various learning initiatives and professional development events, including scheduling, event announcements and promotional materials, event setup, attendee communications, and virtual platform configurationCreate instructional support materials such as learner manuals and other course materials, design templates, rubrics, FAQs, and assessment tools for workshop and webinar deliveryManage project work plans, timelines, and processes to ensure timely completion and high-quality deliverablesServe as a co-producer for online events, handling chat functions, recordings, participant engagement tools (e.g., polls, Q&A), and follow-up tasksParticipate in regularly scheduled meetings within OAA, CUNY EDGE, and the partner collegesPerform special projects and other duties as assignedQualifications:MINIMUMBachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience requiredAt least two years of experience facilitating or teaching in postsecondary or professional learning environmentsStrong communication, presentation, project management, and relationship-building skillsDemonstrated ability to design and implement in-person and virtual learning experiences and resources for staff developmentStrong facilitation skills, with experience leading meetings, cross-sector working groups, advisory bodies, or learning communities in multiple modes to diverse audiencesExceptional written communication skills, including experience producing training materials, manuals, or implementation guides grounded in field-based workWorking knowledge of instructional design theory and adult learning principlesAbility to work in a fast-paced and changing environment with multiple priorities that need to be effectively managed, while maintaining composure and flexibility in a structured environmentStrong problem-solving abilities to independently resolve routine and complex issuesAbility to work effectively as part of a teamPREFERREDExperience in a higher education setting is a plus.Proficiency with virtual engagement tools such as Padlet, Mentimeter, and Poll EverywhereProficiency with learning management systems (i.e., Brightspace) and video editing tools used for digitized training content.Work Environment and Physical Requirements:This is a 80/20 hybrid position (4 days in office), subject to change.
