Job summary

Ares Management in New York seeks a Senior Associate to join its U.S. Direct Lending team. You will manage the full investment lifecycle from origination to portfolio management and interact with investment committee and senior leaders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or international equivalent.
4-5 years of relevant experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity or Credit.
Experience in Leveraged Finance or Private Credit preferred.
Advanced Excel modeling and PowerPoint skills.
Strong investment judgment, integrity and ability to manage complex workstreams independently.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed fundamental credit analysis underpinning new debt and/or equity investment decisions.
Screen new opportunities and assess business quality, industry dynamics, credit risks and transaction structure.
Build complex Excel models covering cash flow, debt sizing, capital structure, downside scenarios and investment returns.
Prepare and present investment committee memoranda.
Monitor investment performance, maintain valuations, and track company/industry developments.
Negotiate and review legal documentation, and lead investment closings.
Manage a substantial portfolio of investments and mentor junior investment professionals.
