Job summary

Boring Stuff is seeking a Senior Associate, Accounting & Operations in Santa Monica to own month-end closes, AP/AR, payroll, and HR compliance across client entities. You’ll coordinate with CPAs, manage 1099s, and optimize back-office processes for creator-driven businesses.

Ideal candidates are technically sharp, calm under pressure, and able to shift gears quickly while communicating clearly with non-finance clients. This is an early role with room to grow in a fast-growing firm.

Qualifications

• Must know QuickBooks Online inside out and manage multi-entity closes.
• Experience bookkeeping for multiple clients/entities simultaneously.
• Understanding of entity structures (S-corps, LLCs, C-corps).
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets data cleanup and basic financial modeling.
• Experience with payroll software and tax coordination in a professional setting.
• Ability to explain financials clearly to non-finance partners.
• Proactive follow-through with missing statements and docs.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close and reconciliations across client entities in QuickBooks Online.
• Produce monthly P&Ls, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for clients.
• Support quarterly estimated tax calculations and liaise with CPAs.
• Prepare 1099s and coordinate year-end documentation.
• Run AP/AR, coordinate payroll, and onboard new clients.
• Maintain internal trackers in Airtable and Google Drive.
• Draft and manage contractor agreements and onboarding documents.
