Job description

There's never been a better time to be in the business of helping founders build. We partner with growth-oriented companies as their outsourced accounting and fractional finance partner, and we're growing rapidly. Technology is enabling a new kind of accounting firm - one that moves faster and thinks bigger. We're building something genuinely new, and it shows in how we work.

We're looking for someone who is organized but creative, hardworking but self-directed, and who finds real energy in owning complex accounting work and delivering it at a high level. If you want a role where the work is meaningful, the team is sharp, and your impact on how our company grows is felt on a daily basis, this is it.

2. The role

You’ll own the month-end close for a portfolio of 5-10 clients, from early-stage startups to scaling enterprises, and be the person those clients rely on to keep their books clean and their financials decision-ready. This isn’t a support role. You're driving the close, managing the relationships, and making sure the numbers are right. You’ll also help build the systems and processes that make the whole firm better.

Client Accounting & Close
  • Own month-end close workstreams for assigned clients: reconciliations, accruals, revenue recognition, and variance analysis
  • Prepare and review ASC 606 tasks: revenue schedules, cutoff entries, and contract support documentation
  • Prepare close journal entries with proper accounting treatment and clean documentation each time
  • Conduct P&L and balance sheet flux analysis, and explain the variances in plain language that clients can act on
  • Proactively communicate with clients to clarify transactions, gather support, and get ahead of deadlines
AP, Payroll & Operations
  • Manage AP functions across your client portfolio vendor management, invoice processing, and payment scheduling in Ramp and Bill.com
  • Process payroll for assigned clients in Gusto and/or QBO Payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
  • Identify process improvements (templates, checklists, automations, etc.) that reduce errors and make the whole team faster
3. Who we're looking for
  • You take ownership of your close - you're not waiting to be told what needs to be done
  • You can explain a balance sheet flux to a founder who's never heard of GAAP and make it land
  • You use AI tools and modern accounting technology because you're always looking for a smarter way to work
  • You thrive in ambiguity and make solid judgment calls when the answer isn't spelled out
  • You're deadline-driven, organized, and consistently reliable
4. Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience with direct ownership of month-end close
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and balance sheet accounting
  • Strong judgment on account classification and cutoffs; comfortable navigating ambiguity
  • Proven experience with payroll systems (Gusto, QBO Payroll) and AP platforms (Ramp, Bill.com)
  • Experience in public accounting or an outsourced/multi-client environment is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills - able to build and maintain schedules and reconciliations from scratch
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and reside in the U.S. at time of application
  • CPA license or active pursuit is a plus
5. Logistics & comp
  • Competitive base compensation
  • Profit-share annual bonus
  • Health insurance, 401k plan, and monthly stipends for internet and cell phone
