Job summary

Cherry Bekaert LLP is seeking a Senior Associate in CFO Advisory Services to deliver accounting advisory engagements for state and local governments, higher education institutions and not-for-profits. You will help navigate GASB standards and complex financial reporting while driving performance improvements.

The role supports GASB 68/75/87/96 implementations, ACFR drafting, and close processes. Travel <25% may be required, with a CPA or in-process status considered advantageous in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in public accounting, or public sector accounting/consulting.
• Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards (GASB).
• CPA license (or in process) is NICE TO HAVE, NOT REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accounting advisory engagements to state and local governments, higher education institutions and not-for-profits clients.
• Assist with GASB standards implementations (GASB 68, 75, 87, 96) and related adjustments.
• Support complex financial statement close processes, roll forwards, and ACFR drafting/review.
• Troubleshoot accounting issues, perform financial analysis, and support performance improvement initiatives.
• Engage clients with stakeholder interviews and data validation to inform conclusions.
