Job summary

Cherry Bekaert LLP in Rockville, MD seeks a Senior Associate for CFO Advisory Services to deliver accounting advisory engagements for government and not-for-profit clients. You will lead GASB implementations, support ACFRs, and help with complex close processes and data analysis.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting and at least 4 years in public accounting or public sector, with travel up to 25%. You will collaborate with clients to improve financial reporting and drive performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• At least 4 years' experience in public accounting, public sector, or related external audit/consulting roles.
• Strong knowledge of GASB standards and related reporting requirements.
• Ability to navigate ACFRs and government financial statements.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accounting advisory engagements to state/local governments, higher education and not-for-profits.
• Support GASB implementation and application for GASB 68/75/87/96.
• Assist with roll-forwards and adjustments for GASB standards.
• Manage complex financial statement close processes and journal entries.
• Draft or review Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFRs).
• Contribute to process improvement and organizational design.
• Engage with clients through interviews and stakeholder input to validate assumptions.
• Work with large data sets to analyze and resolve issues.
