Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie LLP in California seeks an associate (4–7 years of environmental, land use, or energy regulatory experience) to join our Chambers-ranked California Projects, Energy, Environment and Resources team.

You will advise utilities, energy developers, and sponsors on regulatory approvals, CEQA/NEPA, and complex environmental claims, with opportunities to mentor junior associates and lead deliverables.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of environmental, land use, or energy regulatory experience at a major Am Law firm, government agency, or respected environmental boutique.
• Deep familiarity with CEQA, NEPA and related natural resource laws.
• Experience representing project sponsors of energy and infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of CAISO planning process is valued.

Responsibilities

• Advice on federal, state, and local regulatory approvals with focus on CEQA/NEPA.
• Represent clients before regulatory bodies and in related proceedings.
• Counsel clients through permitting, mitigation, and land use processes.
• Support transactional drafting for energy and infrastructure deals.
• Mentor junior associates and supervise team delivery.
