Orion Placement in Columbia, SC, is seeking a senior civil defense litigator to defend complex matters across the state. Take a lead role in state and federal courts, manage litigation strategies, and build strong client relationships.

This hybrid role requires 3+ years civil defense experience, SC Bar admission, and proven leadership. You will mentor junior attorneys and collaborate across the firm to expand our South Carolina practice.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active South Carolina Bar admission required.
• 3+ years of civil defense litigation experience.
• Demonstrated ability to defend civil matters and develop effective litigation strategies.
• Excellent legal writing, analysis, negotiation, advocacy, and presentation skills.
• Strong client communication and relationship management skills.
• Leadership, mentorship, and team collaboration abilities.
• Federal District Court of South Carolina admission preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take a lead role defending complex civil litigation matters throughout South Carolina.
• Represent clients in state and federal courts, mediations, and arbitration proceedings.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies aligned with client objectives.
• Provide practical legal counsel regarding civil disputes, litigation exposure, and case strategy.
• Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, high quality service.

• Mentor and support less experienced attorneys while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

Location:

Columbia, South Carolina. This is a hybrid position with approximately 3 to 4 days per week in the office, providing flexibility while maintaining strong collaboration with attorneys and clients.

Note:

Candidates must be admitted to the South Carolina Bar and have 3+ years of directly relevant civil defense litigation experience. Strong candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage litigation strategically, communicate directly with clients, and handle matters with increasing independence.
