Collins & Lacy, P.C., a well-established law firm in Columbia, SC, seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join our civil defense team. The role focuses on handling civil litigation matters across South Carolina, with hybrid in-office/remote work and a Monday–Friday schedule.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of civil defense experience, strong writing and advocacy skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service. Admission to the SC Bar is required.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the South Carolina Bar.
• Minimum of 3 years civil defense litigation experience.
• Excellent analytical, writing, negotiation, and presentation skills and commitment to client service.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
• Represent clients in civil disputes in South Carolina.
• Handle diverse cases for retail and hospitality clients.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis.
• Develop and implement litigation strategies aligned with client goals.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Collaborate with attorneys across the firm to deliver legal solutions.
• Contribute to the growth of the firm and expansion of its presence throughout South Carolina.
• Write reports and develop budgets.

Collins & Lacy, P.C., a well-established and respected law firm based in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Associate Attorney to join our expanding civil defense practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with strong litigation experience who is passionate about client service and contributing to the strategic growth of a successful law firm.

Position Overview

The Associate Attorney will support the defense of civil litigation matters across South Carolina. The ideal candidate is driven, detail-oriented, and eager to take ownership of cases while working closely with experienced Senior Attorneys.

Requirements

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses
• Provide effective legal counsel in the defense of civil disputes in South Carolina
• Handle diverse and challenging cases for retail and hospitality clients
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of civil defense experience with a demonstrated track record defending civil matters
• Excellent analytical, writing, negotiation, and presentation skills
