Job summary

Mohenis Services, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the accounting team and ensure timely financial reporting in support of the Controller.

You will own the monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, audit support, and the development of strong internal controls. This hands-on role also involves staff supervision and improving processes, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• CPA certification preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Multi-company and intercompany accounting experience.
• Strong reconciliation, financial reporting, and Excel skills.
• ERP accounting-system experience; Sage experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close.
• Review journal entries for GAAP, accuracy, proper support, and approval.
• Review reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are resolved timely.
• Reconcile and review intercompany transactions and balances.
• Assist with preparation and review of financial statements and consolidated reporting.
• Review accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, debt, leases, payroll, and benefit accounts.
• Investigate unusual balances and discrepancies.
• Supervise and review the work of the accounting team.
• Assist with accounts payable, cash management, and general accounting activities, as needed.
• Maintain strong internal controls and appropriate supporting documentation.
• Assist with annual audits and preparation of audit schedules.
• Improve and streamline accounting processes and procedures.
• Provide backup support to the Controller.
