Potelco, Inc., a subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc. in Sumner, WA, is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, controls, and staff across projects. The role partners with the Controller and leads a multi-project accounting function.

The position emphasizes strong GAAP knowledge, SOX compliance, and continuous process improvement, with a compensation range of $130,000–$150,000 per year depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive, relevant accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role.
• Significant construction, engineering, EPC, or project-based industry experience.
• Experience supporting accounting operations in mid-to-large organizations.
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with construction ERP systems.
• SOX compliance and internal control experience.
• Familiarity with multi-state payroll and Washington tax rules.
• Intercompany accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting functions (GL, A/P, A/R, payroll, job cost).
• Lead month-end and year-end closing and reporting processes.
• Manage project accounting: revenue recognition, WIP, job costing.
• Maintain internal controls and coordinate audits.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff across locations.
• Drive ERP and process improvements with IT and finance teams.
