Job summary

Potelco, Inc., a Quanta Services subsidiary, is hiring an Assistant Controller at the Sumner, WA headquarters. You will support the Controller in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance across multiple projects and locations.

The role leads a team of accounting professionals, partners with operations and project management, and drives process improvements. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $150,000 per year, with a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in construction, EPC, or project-based industry.
• Experience with mid-to-large organizations’ accounting operations.
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with construction ERP systems.
• SOX compliance and internal controls knowledge.
• Multi-state payroll and Washington sales/use tax familiarity.
• Intercompany accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Experience managing audits and complex accounting transactions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and job costing.
• Lead month-end and year-end closings and prepare reporting schedules.
• Manage project accounting activities including revenue recognition and WIP reporting.
• Maintain internal control systems and coordinate audits.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff across projects and locations.
• Drive automation and process improvements with IT/ERP teams.
