Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor from a law school accredited by the ABA and membership of the Florida Bar. Applicants who are law graduates but not current Florida Bar members may be considered; but must provide proof and sit for the Florida Bar exam within 12 months.
• Assistant Attorney General requires admission to the Florida Bar and two years of professional legal experience.
• Senior Assistant Attorney General requires admission to the Florida Bar and six years of professional legal experience.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute and defend civil litigation on behalf of state agencies and officials in federal and state courts.
• Handle settlement negotiations, pleadings, pre-trial, jury and non-jury trials, post-trial and appellate practice.
• Research and draft motions, answers, replies, memoranda, briefs, opinions, and other pleadings.
• Attend trials, hearings, and appellate arguments; appear before agency boards and legislative committees.
• Perform investigations and all aspects of discovery; manage case status reports and time records.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff; coordinate with legal secretaries, paralegals, and interns.
