Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City seeks a Senior Planner in Asset Planning to analyze capital asset conditions and help shape investment strategies for a $1.5 trillion asset base, including Twenty-Year Needs Assessments and Five-Year Capital Plans.

The Senior Planner will work with operating agencies and C&D partners to propose projects, draft reports, and prepare materials for internal and external use, with emphasis on bus depots and facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in City or Urban Planning, Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
• Minimum of four (4) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop a working knowledge of the MTA’s assets and internal/external contacts.
• Contribute to data-driven planning and prioritization of capital investments.
• Utilize GIS, data visualization tools, and dashboards for graphics and maps.
• Navigate large databases including asset inventories and performance data.
• Coordinate with MTA agencies and partners on project proposals.
• Develop capital investment strategies based on condition, performance, safety and resilience.
• Support prioritization documents within Twenty-Year Needs Assessments and Five-Year Plans.
