MTA Construction & Development (C&D) is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of all capital construction projects across the MTA region. Through centralized oversight and management of the MTA's $68.4 billion Capital Program, C&D ensures the efficient delivery of critical infrastructure projects that support the region's vast transportation network. This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.
The Capital Strategy Team oversees planning activities for a complex and critical portfolio of assets across MTA agencies. The Senior Planner will analyze and evaluate capital asset conditions to help develop capital investment strategies across MTA's $1.5 trillion asset base, including the Twenty-Year Needs Assessment and Five-Year Capital Plan. It is expected that the position’s initial focus will include MTA bus depots and facilities.
This position will involve working closely with MTA operating agencies and C&D partners to develop and prioritize capital projects in accordance with facility and operational needs. The Senior Planner will analyze, create, and develop project proposals, including various programmatic and project-specific transportation investment proposals. The Senior Planner will provide data analysis support and help draft reports and presentation materials for internal and external purposes, as well as reports on special C&D initiatives and other programmatic performance metrics.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in City or Urban Planning, Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
Minimum of four (4) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience.
Master’s degree preferred.
Final salary is determined by experience, skill set, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
