Job summary

Martin Marietta seeks a Plant Operator to ensure safe, efficient production of Hot Mix Asphalt and Warm Mix Asphalt. You will operate a computerized plant control system, manage material flow, and support scheduling of deliveries.

The role requires advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance on site equipment, and adherence to QC/DOT specs while upholding Martin Marietta’s Guardian Angel safety culture to maximize uptime.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated plant control systems to regulate material flow, temperatures, and mixing times.
• Oversee loading of asphalt into haul trucks with correct weights and compliant loads.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on conveyors, baghouses, drum dryers, screens, and elevators.
• Monitor stockpiles of liquid AC, fuel, and aggregates; coordinate with loaders to keep the plant fed.
• Identify and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Maintain a clean and orderly plant, control house, yard, and equipment areas for safety.
• Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections and document findings.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations, including dust control and LOTO procedures.
• Document daily production logs, maintenance records, and fuel/oil usage in company software.
• Assist in training Laborers and share technical knowledge of plant systems.
• Serve as the primary contact between plant, QC lab, and dispatch to fulfill customer orders accurately.
