Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking an Equipment Operator II to safely operate heavy mobile equipment and support asphalt production. You will manage raw material stockpiles, feed the plant’s cold bins with precision, and ensure continuous flow of production while maintaining a clean, safe yard environment.

The role emphasizes mechanical proficiency, troubleshooting, and strong safety practices in a high-heat plant setting, with a need for OSHA-compliant PPE and teamwork in a union environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or relevant experience.
• CDL Class A or B is a plus and may be required.
• 1+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in an asphalt/plant environment preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
• Good computer literacy and written/spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy front-end loaders (Cat 980/988) to feed bins and stockpiles.
• Monitor conveyors, temperature gauges, and asphalt flow per DOT specs.
• Perform routine inspections, report issues, and assist in minor repairs.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and comply with OSHA PPE rules.
• Support maintenance crew during shutdowns and assist scale house operations.
