Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking an Equipment Operator II to safely manage heavy equipment and support asphalt production. The role emphasizes technical proficiency, material stockpile management, and precise feeding of cold bins to maintain mix integrity.

You will monitor raw material quality, assist in plant operations, and perform minor repairs while upholding OSHA safety standards. This is a union-involved, on-site position in a demanding outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
• CDL Class A or B is a significant plus.
• 1+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in an asphalt plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy front-end loaders to feed cold feed bins and stockpiles.
• Monitor raw material quality and report moisture or oversized rock before entering production.
• Assist Plant Operator with conveyor speeds, temperature gauges, and asphalt oil flow to meet specs.
• Perform minor field repairs: replace idlers, adjust belt tracking, clear blockages.
• Conduct daily walk-around inspections and document fluid levels, tire pressures, and grease points.
• Support maintenance during shutdowns (liner replacements, filter changes, welding) as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and observe OSHA PPE and fall protection rules.
