Job summary

Martin Marietta in Berkeley is seeking a Plant Operator to ensure safe, efficient production of Hot Mix Asphalt and Warm Mix Asphalt. The role uses a computerized plant control system to regulate material flows, temperatures and mixing times while adhering to QC and DOT specs.

You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on conveyors and dryer systems, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, and help train Laborers to uphold our Guardian Angel safety culture and maximize

Qualifications

• OSHA compliance and regulations knowledge required.
• EPA technical aptitude.
• Mechanical aptitude and asphalt plant knowledge.
• Detail oriented with good time management.
• Effective communicator (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Operate automated plant control systems to monitor flow, temperatures, and mixing times.
• Ensure precise blending of aggregates and asphalt cement per QC mix designs.
• Oversee loading of asphalt into haul trucks and ensure legal load limits.
• Monitor stockpiles of liquids and aggregates; coordinate with Loader Operator.
• Perform advanced maintenance on conveyors, baghouses, drum dryers, and related equipment.
• Identify and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Maintain clean, safe facilities and conduct pre/post-shift inspections.
• Document production and maintenance records using company software.
• Train Laborers and share knowledge of plant systems.
• Serve as primary contact between plant, QC lab, and dispatch to ensure orders are completed accurately.
