Job summary

Hook is seeking a Senior Art Director to lead design craft and creative direction in a remote-first agency environment within the US. You’ll partner with writers and motion designers to develop insight-driven concepts and deliver visually compelling campaigns across digital and social channels.

You’ll balance hands-on design work with strategic leadership, presenting work to clients, mentoring junior designers, and maintaining brand consistency while exploring new AI tools and industry trends.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of creative agency or production company experience.
• Hands-on design ability with pixel-perfect feedback to other team members.
• Familiarity with motion graphics and ability to collaborate with motion designers.
• Bonus: hands-on brand design and/or motion design experience.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating ability to solve marketing challenges across digital and social-first projects.
• Ability to tell clear, engaging stories using UI features and visuals.
• Keep up with industry developments and AI tools.
• Experience working with tech brands is a plus.
• Travel for photo and video shoots (less than 10% of the year).

Responsibilities

• Hands-on Concepting & Execution: Develop insight-driven concepts with a writing partner and deliver visual design beyond client expectations.
• Design & Concepting: Create visually appealing designs and concepts for social and digital campaigns.
• Client Relationships: Build positive relationships with client contacts and understand brand culture and expectations.
• Team Collaboration: Work with Design and Motion teams to improve processes and efficiency.
• Communication: Be a clear communicator with the team and production partners.
• Creative Partnership: Collaborate with a Senior Copywriter to drive storytelling across media.
• Presentations: Lead pitch materials for major and complex campaigns.
• High Quality: Ensure top quality across strategic, creative, and design deliverables.
• Push the Work: Elevate quality with ambitious opportunities while meeting deliverables.
• Team Relationships: Nurture relationships with Design, Copy, Motion and Production.
• Team Cultural Impact: Promote a positive creative culture through teamwork and attitude.
• Travel: Support photo/video shoots as required.
