Job summary

Whatnot is seeking a multidisciplinary Designer and Illustrator to join the Brand Experience team as an Art Director, 2D Illustration. A hands-on generalist role with high taste, craft, and creative range, capable of simplifying complex concepts into compelling visual metaphors.

The role requires strong 2D design craft, a clear point of view on art direction, and the ability to guide the team with minimal guidance in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience across brand, campaign, or creative studio work.
• Portfolio showing strong visual thinking and hands-on execution.
• Ability to simplify complex concepts into visual metaphors.
• Strong point of view on art direction and design systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop visual strategies and art direction to extend Whatnot’s brand across digital experiences, product launches, events, social, and merchandise.
• Collaborate across business verticals with designers, engineers, copywriters, marketers, and leads from brief to delivery.
• Move quickly from brief to execution while maintaining high craft standards.
• Maintain and evolve visual strategies through moodboards and sketches for bespoke assets.
• Provide actionable feedback to teammates and foster a collaborative, positive environment.
• See projects from start to finish and articulate concepts clearly to stakeholders.
• Utilize tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma Weave, and AI workflows to streamline processes.
