Job summary

ECS Group of Companies (ECS) seeks an experienced Specification Writer III in San Antonio, TX for its Southwest Building Science + Infrastructure group. You will research materials, develop detailed specifications, and ensure alignment with project requirements, standards, and codes.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams, lead specification projects, and stay current on new materials and industry trends. 8+ years of experience and CSI/CDT/LEED credentials are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in architecture or related field.
• 8+ years of architectural and specification writing experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of Architectural or Commercial Interiors experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of increased responsibility in writing, editing, and developing AIA MasterFormat - 3 part specifications.
• CSI membership; CDT certification a plus; CCS/LEED AP or licensed Architect/Engineer a plus.
• Valid driver's license if driving for ECS subsidiary.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams in researching product materials and manufacturers for architectural projects.
• Assist with management of specification projects and resolve technical/administrative issues.
• Educate design teams on product selection and design considerations.
• Write and edit specifications for projects and coordinate with codes, guidelines, and standards.
• Plan and prepare construction specifications for project milestones.
• Prepare and review Division 01 General Requirements sections.
• Coordinate consultant specifications with firm standards and project manuals.
• Perform product research and assist designers with material selections.
• Coordinate with internal and external disciplines on project manual preparation.
• Stay current on building technology, codes, and industry trends.
