Job summary

Xero is seeking a senior technical leader for Reporting & Insights in a hybrid role based in the San Mateo area. You will define the multi-year architecture, guide data platforms and the evolution of report families, and scale capabilities for large customers while ensuring correctness and grounding to the ledger.

You’ll work with product leads and platform teams across Xero, mentoring engineers and shaping a resilient, AI-enabled reporting ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Set technical strategy for a domain or portfolio over a 2 to 3 year horizon and align multiple teams behind it.
• Led the evolution of large, high-traffic, correctness-critical systems across org boundaries.
• Depth in high-throughput, low-latency, resilient distributed systems and data-heavy architecture.
• Connect external shifts, AI to product and architecture strategy, and know where LLMs and agents belong.
• Grow Lead and Senior Engineers into bigger roles and translate direction into decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the evolution of foundational data platforms and several report families.
• Open Reporting & Insights to larger businesses with scalable performance.
