Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Architect in California to lead design teams across diverse project types, from healthcare to data centers. You will oversee concept through construction, ensuring code compliance and high-quality deliverables, while mentoring junior staff and pursuing new business opportunities.

Travel to project sites is expected. The role requires NAAB-accredited degrees, extensive experience, and preferred CA licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited program; 8 years related experience.
• Master Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited program; 7 years related experience.
• Minimum eight years of architectural experience preferred.
• Portfolio demonstrating design and graphic presentation skills is preferred.
• Active California Registered Architect license or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design from concept through design completion.
• Develop, modify, and review production drawings for healthcare, airports, educational and government facilities.
• Support project planning: schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning; manage change orders.
• Apply architectural concepts, codes, ADA standards, and write specifications.
• Lead design solutions for complex projects and perform quality reviews of drawings.
• Coordinate construction administration with field personnel; resolve design issues.
• Present technical reports to clients and publish industry articles.
• Build client relationships and identify new business opportunities; contribute to proposals.
