Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in KYC Risk Assessment to lead architecture and engineering across data platforms and AI systems. You will drive secure, scalable solutions and guide teams through complex tools and regulatory requirements.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding, system design, and collaboration with senior leaders to deliver high-impact financial services software at scale.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 7+ years applied experience
• Hands-on system design, application development, testing, and operational stability at enterprise scale
• Experience designing and deploying production AI/ML systems, including LLM-based apps with tool use, memory, and multi-step reasoning in regulated environments
• Expert in Python and/or Java
• Advanced knowledge of software development processes with cloud, AI/ML, data engineering focus
• Experience with large-scale data processing, microservices, API design, Kafka, Redis, Memcached, observability tools, and orchestration frameworks
• Cloud-native experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Ability to present to senior leaders and executives
• Experience leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices

Responsibilities

• Architects and implements complex, scalable engineering frameworks and solutions using modern software design principles
• Develops secure, high-quality production code for data-intensive applications and platforms, and reviews and mentors other engineers
• Creates durable, reusable software frameworks and patterns used across teams
• Designs and governs agentic AI systems, including multi-agent workflows and tool-use integrations
• Establishes engineering standards for LLM-based applications and RAG pipelines with guardrails for safety and observability
• Drives adoption of advanced technical methods aligned with industry standards and product development
• Serves as go-to SME in data engineering, platform architecture, or AI systems
• Advises cross-functional teams on technological matters and influences senior stakeholders
• Architects and governs agentic AI-enabled workflows for faster delivery with secure controls
• Applies SDLC tools and enterprise AI-assisted development to improve automation value
