Job summary

Prospect Park Alliance, Inc. in New York City is seeking an Architect II to lead architectural design and construction for historic restorations, renovations, and new structures within the Park.

You will guide projects from planning through construction administration, coordinating with NYC Parks, LPC, and other agencies, and ensuring high design quality and compliance. You will work with licensed professionals, support long‑term capital plans, and help advance sustainability and historic

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
• New York State Architecture License required; PPA will consider candidates licensed in another jurisdiction who are actively pursuing New York licensure.
• 6–8 years of relevant architectural experience with responsibility for planning, design, and coordination of large or complex projects.
• Experience across all phases of project delivery, including design, permitting, construction documents, and construction administration.
• Strong preference for experience with NYC permitting, public-sector capital delivery, historic structures, and/or sustainability initiatives.
• LEED accreditation is a plus.
• A valid Driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital planning and project scoping prior to initiation, establishing goals, program, scope, budget, schedule, and risks.
• Manage assigned projects, track budgets, schedules, deliverables, and risks; identify issues early.
• Lead architectural projects through all design phases: SD, DD, CD; prepare drawings and specs.
• Coordinate with NYC Parks, LPC, PDC, DOB, DEP, and community stakeholders; review consultant work and invoices.
• Oversee architectural construction administration: RFIs, submittals, field documentation, and site meetings.
• Mentor less‑experienced staff and provide technical guidance; serve as project architect for complex projects.
